Through screenprinting (paper, t-shirts) and illustrating zines, I explore a personal view of soft and feminine aesthetic focused on lesbian and feminist subjects. More specifically, care-work, emotions and the reclamation of space are the driving topics of my illustrations.
As a gay femme woman, a queer feminist view also guides my work and subject matter. My goal in representing non-hetero-centric relationships is to counter heteronormativity by making queer femme folks more visible and relatable.
My work includes images of strong women who inspire me to be more myself, in different ways: sentitive, unapologetic, crazy, sexually empowered, in control, girly or tomboy, and well, really just whatever they want to be. I find it refreshing and liberating and I guess I just want to share that with the world.
A broad collaborative ethic guides my creative process wether its critical discussion, support or sharing resources. Not only does this keep me accountable to my community, but it challenges me and my work in creative and progressive ways.
